Data sufficiency mini quiz (part I)
Last updated: 27 Sep 2007
To help you practice keeping the data statements separate when working on data sufficiency problems we will do the problems in this mini quiz in two parts.
In this first part of the quiz consists you are faced with a set of problems with the first data statement and then the same set of problems again but this time with the second data statement.
For each question/statement combination below, decide whether the statement provides you with sufficient information to answer the question.
Statement 1
| # | Question | Data statement | Is the data sufficient? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | What percentage of R is S? | `R/S = 24/25` | |
| 2 | Is `m/n` an integer? | `m` is an even number | |
| 3 | Is `x` an even number? | `x^2` is even | |
| 4 | What is the value of a + b | b = 7 | |
| 5 | Is `y` an odd number? | `2y` is an even number |
Statement 2
| # | Question | Data statement | Is the data sufficient? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | What percentage of R is S? | `R + 3 = S` | |
| 2 | Is `m/n` an integer? | `m` is a multiple of `n` | |
| 3 | Is `x` an even number? | `x + 1` is odd | |
| 4 | What is the value of a + b | a - b = 12 | |
| 5 | Is `y` an odd number? | `y` is divisible by 3 |
Try answering these before we look at the answers.
