Prime numbers

Prime numbers are the positive integers which can only be divided by themselves and 1 (without remainder).

There are an infinite number of primes.

You will find it very useful in the GMAT to know at least all the primes up to 20. The list below is all the primes up to 100.

2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97

By convention 1 is not considered to be a prime number.

2 is the first prime number and is the only even prime.
